Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

Cillessen made a name for himself during the Netherlands’ World Cup run back in 2014. He was famously substituted by Louis Van Gaal ahead of a penalty shootout, with Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul replacing him and winning it for his country.

A couple of years on from the World Cup, Barcelona made their move and signed him from Ajax. However, during his time at the Camp Nou, he has been forced to play second-fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was one of the best goalkeepers in Europe last season.

Cillessen will need to depart in search of regular first-team football, and the Chelsea goalkeeper post could soon open with the inevitable departure of Thibaut Courtois.

According to Sport, Chelsea have added Cillessen to our shortlist of potential successors for Courtois. Arsenal are also thought to be keen. Sport add that it would take a fee in the region of €30M-€35M to convince Barca to sell-up this summer.
