Chelsea have reportedly drawn-up a three-man shortlist of wingers who could replace Manchester United target Willian this summer.

Losing Willian would be a blow. Especially considering that the only interested party is thought to be Man United.

We’d be strengthening a direct rival, while parting with our players’ player of the year. It wouldn’t be wise.

Selling the Brazilian wouldn’t be the end of the world if he was adequately replaced, though. The issue is, we don’t trust our board to sign a suitable replacement.

Our transfer strategy in recent seasons has been bizarre, but that may be about to change if this report from the Telegraph is accurate.

As per the Telegraph, Napoli’s Dries Mertens, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic are all potential targets to strengthen our attack.

All three players, on paper at least, look as though they’d be worthwhile additions. Let’s hope we’re able to prise at least one of them away from their current employers.
