Chelsea are leading the race to sign CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to his former teammate Roman Shirokov.
Our reported interested in signing Golovin makes perfect sense. Not only would he provide much needed ingenuity in the middle of the park, but Roman Abramovich would no doubt love to see the star of the Russian national team playing his football at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will have to move fast to have any hope of signing the 22-year-old, though. He was highly-coveted before the World Cup, his stock is much higher now and as a result so is the interest in signing him.
Shirokov, who knows Golovin from the time they spent together at CSKA Moscow, considers Chelsea as the frontrunners to sign the midfielder from his former side.
He’s quoted by Kuto revealing his belief that Premier League sides, and Chelsea specifically, will be leading the race to sign Golovin this summer:
“I see the English teams as favourites, especially Chelsea.”
What do you think, Blues? Would Golovin be a worthy addition? Let us know what you think in the comments.
