Chelsea have been offered encouragement in their pursuit of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.
According to the Daily Mail, Antonio Conte is interested in signing the Brazilian. It will likely come as no surprise to those who have watched Marcos Alonso on a regular basis since his arrival in SW6.
Alonso has been a more than adequate stop-gap in the left-wing-back role, but he has defensive frailties that have been continually exposed and remain a weakness in our side.
Sandro could be the answer, and though he would likely not come cheap, he’d be worth every penny. The Daily Mail’s report claims that Chelsea are prepared to offer as much as £60M in order to land the 26-year-old.
Juve chief Beppe Marotta has also handed the Blues a major boost in their pursuit of Sandro. The Daily Mail quote Marotta, who reveals that he would be willing to sell any player who no longer wants to remain in Turin:
“We have said many times that when a player asks to be sold, regardless of prestige or importance within the team, we are in favour of a sale.”
“When a player is unsatisfied, it is better to let him go.”
Now all we need to do is convince Sandro to push for a move to Stamford Bridge…
