Chelsea will make a stunning move in attempting to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, the Metro reports via SportsBild.
The 29-year-old still hasn’t signed a contract extension at The Gunners which has put Chelsea along with Manchester United on alert.
According to German news outlet SportsBild, Chelsea are “hot candidates” to sign Ozil. The German international has shown glimpses of his best at Arsenal but at times has struggled. Especially in the big matches.
Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the player in recent times. However, it is believed Ozil would rather play for a Premier League club, as the Metro reports.
Why Ozil would choose Chelsea over Manchester United?
There will be temptation for the World Cup winner to play under Jose Mourinho like he did at Real Madrid. Although, Ozil has the chance to stay in London and play for a different club.
The English capital often interests many foreign players. As we’ve seen with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas.
There are no German players at Manchester United. Whilst at the Blues, Antonio Rudiger may tempt his countryman into joining the champions.
These factors may be enough to convince Ozil to join Chelsea on a free transfer next season.
