Chelsea smashed our transfer record last summer to secure the services of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, and it looks as though we’re planning to do it again this summer.

Big-money signings in the recent years have not turned out well at Stamford Bridge. Following the arrival of Fernando Torres, and his lack of impact in SW6, we seemed to steer clear of splashing inflated amounts on new arrivals.

Sky Sports believed the signing of Alvaro Morata could set Chelsea back as much as £70M. Huge figures for players who failed to impress last season.

The club do not appear to be scared to make the same mistakes again. According to Radio Kiss Kiss Naples (via the Metro), Chelsea are set to offer £74M in exchange for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly. He’s thought to be wanted by incoming manager Maurizio Sarri.

If the club are willing to give Sarri their full backing in the transfer market, it can only be positive. Would you be prepared to spend that amount on Koulibaly this summer, Blues?
