Chelsea are reportedly prepared to cough up the cash in order to provide Maurizio Sarri with Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani.
It would come as no surprise if Sarri was looking to strengthen out back-line this summer. If he tuned into any Chelsea games last season, he will have seen our defence continually capitulate and cost their teammates dearly.
Even Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, who are thought of very highly at Stamford Bridge, struggled to perform last time around. We may be set to look to the market in search of a solution.
Could Rugani be the man we’re after? We’ve been continually linked with a move for the 23-year-old in recent weeks, and it looks as though we’re keen to get the deal over the line at the soonest possible opportunity.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Chelsea will likely pay €40M in order to get the deal done. The Blues are also set to raise their contract proposal from €3.5M plus bonuses to €4M plus bonuses.
Bizarrely, it looks as though Marina Granovskaia is finally prepared to stump up the cash in order to get deals signed and sealed. This is a good sign…
