Chelsea are interested in signing Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta, according to the Gazzetta.
Zappacosta has established himself as a cornerstone in Torino’s back-line since his arrival at the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2015. He has gone on to make four appearances for the Italian national team. It looks as though he good performances in his home country have turned heads across Europe.
As per the Gazzetta, Chelsea are keen to draft in Zappacosta in hope of solving Antonio Conte’s wing-back headache. Conte has just one option at both right-wing-back and left-wing-back, and is in desperate need of reinforcements in that area of the field.
The Gazzetta report that the Blues are prepared to pay as much as £23M in order to secure Zappacosta’s services, which is perhaps a reflection of the club’s desperate to sign new players as we approach the deadline. Only time will tell if this one will go through before the deadline.
