Newcastle United’s pursuit of Chelsea winger Kenedy is ongoing, with contact already being made with the player’s agent ahead of a potential permanent switch, according to the Chronicle.
Kenedy enjoyed a successful second-half to the 2017/18 campaign on-loan with Newcastle. He had struggled for game-time at Stamford Bridge, with Antonio Conte only scarcely using our younger players.
He needed a loan move elsewhere in order to spread his wings and show us what he can do. Newcastle provided said opportunity, and Kenedy wasted no time impressing the St. James’ Park faithful.
In fact, Kenedy left such a huge impression that Newcastle are thought to be prepared to fork out a club-record fee to sign the Brazilian.
The Chronicle report that Rafa Benitez has been in contact with Kenedy’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci. It’s believed that the Magpies could offer around £20M to sign the 22-year-old.
Considering the current inflated nature of the transfer market, we ought to demand doubt that for a player who possesses as much talent as Kenedy.
