Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will hold talks with the club over his future as a Blue next week, according to Goal.
Giroud proved to be a decent enough stop-gap between January and May, but it’s unclear whether he has a future at the club beyond that.
He signed a short-term contract, meaning he only has a year left to run. The Frenchman has resale value, but if we don’t sell now, we risk losing him on a free.
Time is running out to recoup some of the money we spent on him back in the winter. That was around £18M, as per the BBC.
Goal believe that crunch talks over his Chelsea future will be held next week. Marseille are thought to be interested in taking him back to Ligue 1.
Giroud’s future here could depend on whether Maurizio Sarri intends to keep Tammy Abraham around as part of the first-team squad.
Let’s wait and see what happens…
