These comments from the agent of OGC Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri don’t exactly bode well ahead of Chelsea’s reported pursuit of the midfielder this summer.
As Football London report, Chelsea are believed to be interested in signing Seri this summer. The Ivorian almost joined Barcelona last summer, but the vote never materialised.
The report notes that Arsenal were another team in the running to sign Seri last year. However, once again, he remained a Nice player. He may well be on the move this time around, but his agent has sent out a warning to any interested parties.
Speaking exclusively to Sport Witness, Seri’s agent revealed why his client did not make the move to the Emirates last summer:
“Unfortunately, Arsenal aren’t the quickest when it comes to the transfer market. It’s true that I met [Wenger], we spoke about it, he said it could interest him.”
“He would have liked there to be more departures in his midfield, because he was aware of the balance of his budget.”
Chelsea also are not the quickest in the market, as has been shown in recent seasons. Gone are the days where we stole Willian from under Tottenham’s noses, our pursuits of the Danny Drinkwater’s of the world are now dragged out to the eleventh hour.
We’ll need to be on the ball if we want to sign Seri this summer.
