Paris Saint-Germain midfield maestro Marco Verratti wants to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, according to L’Equipe.
L’Equipe believe that Verratti met with PSG sports director Antero Henrique midweek, and informed him of his desire to leave the club.
This may have, according to the Metro, put Chelsea manager Antonio Conte on high alert. The Metro report that Conte has failed in two attempts to sign Verratti previously, with both Juventus and Chelsea, and remains a huge admirer.
If Chelsea are to pursue Verratti, as the Metro believe they will, it will not be straightforward. The Metro also report that Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are all also keeping tabs on Verratti’s situation in Paris.
The Metro add that the Ligue 1 giants will try and convince Verratti to stay, and if all else fails, demand a whopping £70.2million for him.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on. Verratti may be one of the only genuinely world-class players who is realistically attainable this summer.
