Chelsea have reportedly been handed a major boost in our efforts to prevent Thibaut Courtois from leaving this summer.
Courtois’ long-term future at Stamford Bridge has been in doubt for some time now. His family are still living in Madrid, which can’t be easy for him. That’s thought to be one of the main reasons behind his reluctance to sign a contract extension.
A move to the Santiago Bernabeu would be hard enough for any player to turn down, without the added temptation of reuniting with your family. Unfortunately for Courtois, though, it doesn’t look as though he’s Los Blancos’ number one choice.
According to the London Evening Standard, Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Brazil international Alisson from AS Roma. The deal is thought to be worth around £70M, a new world-record fee for a goalkeeper.
Courtois may be stuck at Chelsea for the final year of his contract at least. We’re not complaining!
