The Italian backpages are dominated by Chelsea today. They’ve provided updates on our pursuits of two players currently competing in Serie A.
The January transfer window is just around the corner, so predictably, the media around the world are hard at work trying to source transfer information to keep us fans in the loop (or sell papers, depending on who we’re talking about).
Calciomercato are no exception to that. They claim that Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani, who has been regarded as a target for manager Maurizio Sarri, has begun taking English lessons. Arsenal have also been linked, per the report.
Corriere dello Sport believe that Chelsea’s interest in AC Milan winger Suso has forced the Rossoneri into action. The club have offered the Spaniard a new contract in hope that he will commit his future to the Serie A side.
Chelsea’s transfer business seems to have centred around Italy in recent seasons. Perhaps that’s what you get for employing two Italian managers in quick succession.
How genuine our interest in Suso is remains to be seen. We’re crying out for a new right-winger, that’s for sure. Rugani would be a non-necessity, so it’ll be interesting to see how that one develops.
