Chelsea continue to be linked with Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj, with this report from the Mirror‘s Darren Lewis claiming that we want him on an initial loan deal.
Maurizio Sarri has already shown that he will not shy away from recruiting the players who excelled with him during his time as Napoli manager. Jorginho arrived at Stamford Bridge alongside Sarri, while Gonzalo Higuain has also been acquired on loan this month.
Though he can’t exactly rebuild his Napoli side in West London, there’s certainly nothing wrong with going after players who he knows can operate and succeed in his intricate system. Another one he could be after is Elseid Hysaj, who was his first-choice right-back at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Mirror believe that he is very much on our wanted list. It’s thought that Marina Granovskaia would attempt to negotiate an initial loan deal, but Napoli would prefer to sell the player outright. We’d be surprised if Aurelio De Laurentiis did any business with us at all.
Even on loan, this would be a questionable signing. The right-back spot is Cesar Azpilicueta’s, and we also have Reece James developing on-loan in the Championship. It would be nonsensical to look to recruit another player in that area at this current time.
