Chelsea have added two new names to their list of potential replacements for Thibaut Courtois, according to Star Sport.
As the days tick by towards the end of the summer transfer window, it’s becoming increasingly likely that Courtois will remain at Chelsea.
Until that time comes, though, anything is possible. Courtois has one-year left to run on his contract, and Real Madrid’s interest is intense.
Losing Courtois would be a setback, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world, assuming he’d be adequately replaced.
England World Cup hero Jordan Pickford was initially thought to be a target, as per Star Sport, but he may not be set to extend his Everton contract.
The report claims that Chelsea will now pursue PSG’s Kevin Trapp and Atletico’s Jan Oblak. There’s a serious gulf in quality between the pair of them.
Trapp is a realistic option, but not a particularly good one. Oblak is a pipe-dream. Even if we were to meet his release clause, he has no reason to leave.
