Chelsea winger Eden Hazard is reportedly prepared to reject a club-record contract offer in order to push through a move to Real Madrid.
Hazard is one of the greatest players ever to pull on a Chelsea shirt. After starring in two title-triumphs, he has surpassed Gianfranco Zola and etched his name into the club’s hall-of-fame.
The prospect of losing Hazard is something that no Chelsea fan wants to entertain. We’ve looked clueless and ineffective with him in the side – imagine what we’d look like without him?
Ever since we won the title last season, reports have suggested that Chelsea are prepared to offer Hazard the biggest contract in the club’s history in an attempt to convince him to stay. A year on, nothing has been signed.
Worryingly, Marca believe that Hazard is prepared to turn down an offer of £340K-a-week in order to fulfil his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
That works out at around £17.7M-a-year. If that’s not enough to convince him to stay, nothing will be.
