Thierry Hazard has ‘revealed’ the real reason why Eden Hazard didn’t sign for Real Madrid over the summer transfer window.
Though Hazard probably did have his own head turned by interest from Los Blancos, it was his father who was pushing towards the move in the public eye.
Unfortunately for him, Real Madrid were not prepared to meet Chelsea’s asking price, with the Blues unwilling to sell for a figure below what Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar.
Hazard has got his head down and worked hard to get match-fit for Maurizio Sarri, but Thierry has felt the need to continue to fuel the fire.
Thierry Hazard is quoted by Marca claiming that Hazard could be a Real Madrid player if Zinedine Zidane remained at the Santiago Bernabeu:
“It could have been a different story if Zidane had continued as Real Madrid coach. But he had his reasons to leave.”
We’re not buying it. Zidane staying at Real Madrid would not have changed Chelsea’s stance, nor loosened Florentino Perez’s purse strings. His father ought to keep his mouth shut.
