Andreas Christensen’s time as a Chelsea player may well be coming to an end.
The Sun cite German newspaper Bild in reporting that Borussia Monchengladbach have a verbal agreement in place to sign Christensen on a permanent basis this summer.
The Danish international has impressed during a two-year stint with the Bundesliga outfit, and it looks as though they’re keen for him to stay around long-term.
However, The Sun believe that Christensen’s proposed move to Gladbach hinges on Chelsea’s pursuit of Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk. It is reported that Antonio Conte is keen to secure a replacement for the out-going John Terry before he gives the green-light to Christensen’s sale.
The Sun note that Van Dijk could cost in the region of £50million. Christensen has the potential to be as good, if not better, than Van Dijk – and he wouldn’t cost a penny. If Conte is looking for a new centre-back, he already has one on his books.
