Marina Granovskaia looks to have got to work quickly following Chelsea’s loss to Tottenham tonight. Gonzalo Higuain is thought to be ‘hours away’ from signing for us.
Higuain has been linked with us for several months now. It would be nice if all the times that we had to report on these rumours was made worthwhile by the Argentine actually signing along the dotted line.
Not only that, but there is a clear need for a new striker at the spearhead of Maurizio Sarri’s attack. Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are not sufficient options and it remains to be seen how sustainable using Eden Hazard as a false 9 is.
Well, we may all soon get our wish. According to Marca, Higuain has given the go-ahead for his transfer to Chelsea to be finalised. The intricacies of the deal, with Higuain still being just on-loan at Milan, are unclear.
We’ll have to wait and see on this one. It’d be a really tough transfer to pull off, but it could be worth it if we were finally to land a striker capable of scoring goals.
