Nabil Fekir has essentially opened the door for Chelsea to make a move to sign him, but insists there has not yet been any contact from the Blues over a potential transfer.
Nabil Fekir was at one point thought to be on his way to Liverpool. As the story goes, he conducted all the necessary interviews with the club’s media team ahead of becoming a Red, but the move collapsed at the eleventh hour and he remained a Lyon player.
The team that Fekir has been most closely linked with since that time is Chelsea, who could certainly do with the creative spark that he provides. Whether we’re interested in signing him is unclear at this point, but the player insists that there has been no talks over a move.
Fekir is quoted by the Metro commenting on speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, and while he does claim that he has not been in contact with Marina Granovskaia, he certainly hasn’t closed the door to the possibility of making the move happen.
“They haven’t called me, but they can be watching my situation without calling me. I do not know [if this will be my last season]. Last year was supposed to be my last, and in the end I’m still here.”
“I cannot know the answer to this. I am happy at Lyon, but which player doesn’t dream of discovering a new league, another club?”
If Maurizio Sarri was able to find a way to accommodate Fekir into the third midfield position, we’d be laughing. He’s a world-class player who’s only going to get better as he grows older and more experienced. We’d love to see him playing in SW6 one day.
