Manchester United are reportedly prepared to part with Chelsea target Anthony Martial this summer, but the chances of the Frenchman moving to Stamford Bridge are slim.
Martial has been a square peg in a round hole during Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford. Historically, Mourinho has had no interest in fielding entertaining attacking players who have very little intention of doing any defensive work. Martial has suffered as a result.
That’s not a fair reflection of Martial’s quality, though. He has the potential to one of the best forwards on the planet in the future – but it doesn’t look as though he’ll be given the opportunity to develop into that player in Manchester.
According to the Daily Mail, Man United will listen to offers for Martial this summer. Chelsea and Tottenham are both thought to be keen, but United are not prepared to sell him to a Premier League rival. That leaves Juventus and Napoli in pole position to secure his services.
