Tianjin Quanjin have confirmed that they have agreed a verbal agreement with a world-class striker, according to the Metro.

The Metro report that Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Chelsea hitman Diego Costa have both been linked with a move to the far east, with the latter being on the brink of a move to the Chinese Super League in January – but the move never materialised.

However, it appears as though Costa’s departure from Chelsea could go through this summer. The Metro quote Tianjin Quanjin owner Shu Yuhui, who confirms that his side are close to securing their first purchase of the summer:

“Basically, a decision on which player we are going to buy in the summer has been made. And we have secured a verbal agreement with the player as well as his club.”

The Metro note that Yuhui went on to describe signing a new centre-forward as a ‘no brainer’, which, as the Metro suggest, could hint that Costa is the player that he is discussing.

Only time will tell if Costa leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but if he does, Tianjin does appear to be the most realistic destination.
