Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante as one of the most influential midfielders he’s ever seen.

Wenger’s long-awaited departure from Arsenal was signed and sealed this summer, with former Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery replacing him.

The Frenchman appeared to be losing his marbles towards the end of his time at the Emirates, but these recent comments have reassured us about the soundness of his mind.

Wenger will be keeping a close eye on his home nation France in Russia. They’re considered one of the favourites to win the World Cup, and rightly so when you look at the strength of their squad.

Kante is one of the most talented, if not the most talented, in France’s squad. He is a phenom and we’re blessed to have him at our disposal. Wenger agrees.

The former Gunners boss is quoted by the Express singing the praises of his compatriot:

“He is one of the most influential midfielders I’ve seen play football.”

“He constantly makes simple decisions and never overcomplicates it.”

Well said, Arsene!
