Chelsea face Arsenal tomorrow at Stamford Bridge, and we’ll get to see what team Maurizio Sarri thinks is his strongest right now.
In goal, there’s no reason to think that Kepa Arrizabalaga won’t play once again. He made a start at short notice against Huddersfield, and will be even more settled now.
At the back we’re seeing a really established selection. Marcos Alonso has had the left back slot locked down since day one of preseason, and that won’t change now, especially after his marauding run won a penalty last time out.
In the middle Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz both had excellent games in the first fixture, and look a solid pair in Sarri’s mind going forward.
At right back, the only option is Cesar Azpilicueta. You can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be in.
In midfield there are two spots locked in: N’Golo Kante and Jorginho look locks to start every game they’re fit this season. The third spot is the most unknown in the team. Sarri confirmed that Mateo Kovacic isn’t fit to start, so it will be either Ross Barkley, or the newly fit Ruben Loftus Cheek starting.
We think Sarri will give a first start of the season to the young Englishman.
Up front, Alvaro Morata will play, having got Sarri’s backing in the press conference today, with Pedro’s goal keeping him safe another week on the right flank. On the other side, Eden Hazard came on last week and assisted that Pedro goal, but he’ll be fit to start this one.
