Antonio Conte is furious at Cesc Fabregas after the Spaniard was sent off during Chelsea’s 3-2 opening day defeat to Burnley on Saturday, according to the Times.
Fabregas picked up his first yellow card in the first-half for sarcastically clapping the referee after conceding a free-kick. A reckless challenge in the second period saw him be shown his second yellow and he was subsequently dismissed.
After Gary Cahill was also shown red in the first-half, Fabregas following suit effectively ended any chances of us getting anything out of the game. The Times claim that Conte is not a happy man, and understandably so.
The Times report that Conte told his players at half-time to keep their discipline in the second half as they were already down to ten men. Fabregas failed to do so, however, being shown red and being ruled out of our clash with Tottenham next weekend.
It’ll be interesting to see what sort of side Conte names at Wembley, as we have just one available midfielder. It’s no wonder that he’s fuming.
