Antonio Conte is willing to change his favoured 3-4-3 system in order to stay one step ahead of their Premier League counterparts, report the Mirror.
Switching to a 3-4-3 formation after the 3-0 defeat at the Emirates is what set Chelsea off on an unprecedented 13-game winning run. However, the Mirror note that Conte could alter it in order to ensure the Blues are successful once again next term.
The Mirror quote Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso, who reveals that the Chelsea squad are already putting in work on the training ground in preparation for the new season:
“We are working on new things this year to improve as a team. [It was] not only Chelsea [that used this system]. it’s an old Italian system that worked very well last year.”
Alonso was one of several Chelsea players who benefited from the change in system last term – he fits the left-wing-back role like a glove.
However, despite the title-winning debut season that Alonso enjoyed, he could soon find himself pushed out of the starting side. The Mirror claim that Chelsea could make a transfer record move to sign £70M-rated Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.
