Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta has insisted that the club can still sign top players without the promise of Champions League football.

After Antonio Conte’s Premier League champions failed to defend their crown and finished fifth in the table, we find ourselves in somewhat of a predicament.

We need to bring in new, top players in order to strengthen ahead of next season. However, we no longer have the extra finances, nor the attraction, of being able to offer Champions League football.

Azpilicueta doesn’t see it as an issue. The Spaniard has played alongside some of the best during his time at the Bridge, from Frank Lampard to Didier Drogba, to John Terry and Eden Hazard. He believes that we can still draft-in players of that quality.

Our vice-captain is quote by the London Evening Standard saying:

“Of course big players will still want to come to Chelsea because we win lots of silverware.”

“I have no doubt that the club will get a squad that can compete to win for trophies. I am sure that will happen.”

Do you agree with him, Blues? Or is this summer going to be a struggle? Let us know what you think in the comments.
