Antonio Rudiger has been included in Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Rudiger endured a difficult start to life as a Chelsea player. He walked into a defence which had been rocked by the deterioration in David Luiz’s relationship with Antonio Conte, and subsequent omission from the side.
However, the second-half of the 2017/18 campaign, despite Chelsea’s form drastically nose-diving, was marginally more successful from Rudiger from a personal standpoint.
He has been rewarded for his good performances with a spot in Joachim Löw’s World Cup squad. Germany won the competition back in 2014 and will be out to retain their crown.
Here’s how he reacted to his inclusion on Twitter.

Rudiger was a regular feature for his country at the Confederations Cup last summer prior to arriving at Stamford Bridge. We hope that he’ll be heavily involved once again, as it’ll be invaluable experience for him ahead of next season.
Congratulations, Antonio! We wish you the best of luck in Russia.
