Michy Batshuayi has revealed that no decision will be made on his future at Chelsea until after the World Cup.
Batshuayi joined the Blues from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille back in the summer of 2016. Despite scoring the goal that won us the Premier League, his overall impact during his debut season at the club was minimal.
It was a similar story at the beginning of this past season. Batshuayi was used sparringly by manager Antonio Conte, who even opted to field a ‘false 9’ ahead of the Belgian. He subsequently joined Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan, where he begun to establish himself as one of the hottest strikers in Europe.
Following his success away from the Bridge, question marks have been raised over Batshuayi’s future with Chelsea. He appears reluctant to rush into any decisions at this point in time, insisting that he wishes to focus on the upcoming World Cup.
Batshuayi is quoted by The Sun revealing that he has no preference whether he is playing for Chelsea or Borussia Dortmund next season:
“I can’t remember being allowed to play two games in a row at Chelsea. It was good to gain confidence.”
“I don’t have a preference; they’re two beautiful clubs.”
He added that there will be time to think about his future after the World Cup, as The Sun report:
“My focus is on the World Cup right now and I don’t want to think about what happens afterwards.”
