Maurizio Sarri is reportedly edging ever closer to replacing Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager.
Sarri is leaving Napoli and being replaced by former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti. He appears keen to follow in Ancelotti’s footsteps in leaving his native Italy in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Telegraph, he may well be poised to do so. The report claims that becoming Chelsea manager is a ‘dream’ for Sarri, and he believes he’s getting closer to achieving that ambition.
The Telegraph report that Sarri is hopeful that Chelsea will soon be offering him a two-year deal to replace Conte as manager. Conte is expected to be sacked imminently, with Sarri in pole position to replace him.
It’s mentioned that both Luis Enrique and Laurent Blanc have also been considered for the soon to be vacant managerial position. For now, though, Sarri is well and truly the leading candidate.
