Manchester City are prepared to build on what has been an excellent season for Pep Guardiola’s side this summer.
The gap between Chelsea and the Premier League champions has been notable to say the least with the Blues a mammoth 24 points behind Man City.
The Etihad outfit not only want to blow away their contenders on the pitch but also in the transfer market where they are ready to pounce on one of our long-term transfer targets.
According to Don Balon, City are ready to annihilate Chelsea’s £87m offer by spending a monumental £114m on Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.
The report suggests that Asensio is aware of Chelsea’s interest and along with our highest sum being blown out of the water the Spaniard would also prefer a move to City.
The 22-year-old has been in and out of Zinedine Zidane’s line-up at Real and at his young age, may seek more game time and the Premier League would certainly nurture his talents.
You’d think that Asensio would surely get more game time at Chelsea over City with the difference in squad depth. However, Chelsea potentially losing out on a Champions League place next season may be the reason why the attacking midfielder has swayed his decision.
