John Terry may not be picked for Aston Villa’s clashes with Chelsea, should they get promoted to the Premier League.
Terry is arguably the greatest player in Chelsea’s history. He got his heroes send off at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, bowing out of the club as a champion. Many suggested that he would take the ‘easy route’, joining an MLS or Chinese Super League side and filling his pockets to the brim.
However, Terry did not believe that his career in competitive was over. He joined arguably the most competitive league in the world in England’s second-tier. The former England skipper proved he still had plenty in his legs by making 32 EFL Championship appearances and helping Villa to a fourth-place finish.
Villa face Chelsea’s arch-rivals Fulham in the play-off final this Saturday. With Terry potentially extending his stay with the midlands outfit, he would face the possibility of locking-horns with his career-long employers. That’s the exact reason why he snubbed interest from the Premier League last summer.
However, the Telegraph believe that there is a way around it. Terry is thought to be set to sign a new 12-month contract, but in the terms of the deal it will be ensured that he will not be picked for Villa’s potential clashes with Chelsea. Steve Bruce has confirmed this news.
This shows just how much of a legend he is!
