Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri has insisted that he will ‘fight until the end’ to win the Premier League with Chelsea this season, report the Daily Star.

Despite never having won a major trophy in his career to date, Sarri is no stranger to launching a title challenge. His Napoli side racked up 91 points in Serie A last season. They were pipped to the post by a Juventus side who have dominated the division for several years.

Sarri will have learned from last season and will undoubtedly be better equipped to lead Chelsea to glory this time around. Considering the strength of the opposition we’re facing, he will need every ounce of that experience if we are to be triumphant.

Sarri acknowledges this, yet insists that regardless of how tough the task ahead may be, he will fight for the title. He’s quoted by the Daily Star saying:

“Manchester City are in their third year with Guardiola and can aim not only to win the title again but also the Champions League.”

“And then there’s Liverpool, who have made great progress with Klopp. I will fight until the end for the English title. I am lucky to have a great squad.”

Having missed out on Champions League qualification in 2015/2016, Chelsea went on to win the title the following season. As you will be aware of, Antonio Conte failed to lead us to a top four finish last season. Could history repeat itself?

With Chelsea winning all four of their opening fixtures, the signs are positive, but it’s far too early to gauge whether we are genuine title contenders. The toughest tests lie ahead – but Sarri’s ready for them.
