Chelsea have confirmed on the club’s official website that Marcos Alonso has signed a new five-year contract.
Five more years. 🙌

Speaking to the club’s official website, Alonso spoke of his delight to pen a new deal:
“I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more.”
Alonso was linked with both Atletico and Real Madrid in the summer, but he never showed any willingness to leave Stamford Bridge.
The former Fiorentina man has developed into one of the best full-backs on the planet during his time as a Blue, as well as winning a Premier League winners’ medal.
Alonso can often be guilty of some suspect defending, but his potency going forward justifies his lack of reliability at the back.
Maurizio Sarri is an incredibly attack-minded manager, and Alonso, like all the other forward-thinking players in the squad, appears to be benefiting from his arrival.
Alonso signs on for five more years, which will keep him at Chelsea until at least 2023. This is excellent news from a Chelsea perspective.
Let’s hope Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante follow suit…
