Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has attempted to provide some insight as to why Thibaut Courtois is looking to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Courtois has won two Premier League titles in four seasons as a Blue. Both times he has attempted to defend his crown, we have fallen abysmally short and failed to even qualify for the Champions League.
However, Chelsea’s shortfalls do not appear to be the reason behind Courtois’ discontent. It’s far more personal than that. Courtois appears keen to reunite with his family back in Spain.
That’s according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge. He’s quoted by the Express revealing the reasons behind Courtois’ push towards the exit door this summer. It doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Chelsea:
“It’s a sensitive situation. His two children are living in Spain with his ex-girlfriend, they are two young children as well.”
“We have to reiterate that Courtois doesn’t sound like he’s unhappy at Chelsea as a player, it’s nothing to do with him being unhappy that Chelsea haven’t reached the top four.”
What do you think of this, Blues? Surely we should be paying him whatever it takes to convince him to stay? Shall we start a fundraiser to fly his family over here?
