Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Amadou Haidara.
By trade he’s a box to box midfielder, the 20-year old plays with an immense amount of power and agility, his play-style and driving runs being very similar to new Liverpool player Naby Keita.
Haidara played his part in RB Salzburg reaching the Europa League final last season, finishing top of their group before defeating Real Sociedad, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille to reach the final. Atletico Madrid had too much quality for the Austrian side to handle, but Haidara still looks to have made an impression.
Haidara was able to score 3 goals and 8 assists in 31 league games, as well as 2 goals in Europe (both in the knockout stages).
According to France Football, Chelsea have ‘initiated contact’ over the possibility of poaching Haidara from RB Salzburg this summer. We are, though, not alone, as the report claims that Tottenham have done the same.
Chelsea could certainly do with signing a new midfielder this summer. Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko are yet to make any sort of impact in the middle of the park. It’s unclear whether all three will be here come the start of next season. Could Haidara be exactly what we’re missing alongside N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park?
