Chelsea have reportedly made contact with AS Roma over the possibility of signing full-back and midfielder Alessandro Florenzi.
We brought you the news on Sunday morning that Chelsea were interested in signing the Italian. Juventus, and both Milan sides, are also thought to be in the race to secure his signature.
Florenzi’s contract with AS Roma expires next summer, with reports indicating that he will not be putting pen-to-paper on an extension. That provides any interested parties with a real opportunity to sign an extremely accomplished player on the cheap – or even for free next summer.
The Metro‘s report, which is citing Italian publication La Gazzette dello Sport, goes one step further in reporting that Chelsea have already made contact with AS Roma over the possibility of signing Florenzi this summer.
Florenzi worked alongside Antonio Conte during his time with the Italian national team. He can also operate as a wing-back and would fit like a glove into Conte’s five-at-the-back system.
Is our interest in Florenzi the clearest indication yet that Conte will be staying this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments.
