Chelsea are preparing to offer a Juventus an eye-watering sum in order to try and convince them to sell left-back Alex Sandro, according to Calciomercato.
Calciomercato believe that the Premier League champions are readying a £62.6M bid for the Brazilian, a fee that the Italian outlet note is higher than was first expected.
When Kyle Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham earlier in the transfer window, the Guardian reported that the £53M City paid for him was a world-record fee for a defender.
If Calciomercato’s report is accurate, Sandro would become the most expensive defender in football history, should the deal go through.
However, despite Roman Abramovich waiting with his chequebook at the ready, Calciomercato claim that Juventus’ stance hasn’t changed – Sandro is not for sale.
Chelsea will be given hope, however, by the fact that Sandro is yet to commit his future to Juve by penning a contract extension, as noted by Calciomercato in their report.
