Chelsea have already prepared a contingency plan incase their pursuit of West Ham United striker Andy Carroll fails, according to Goal.

Goal claim that the Englishman is the Premier League champions’ top target to add to their forward line this winter. It has never been clearer that Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi is not sufficient firepower for us as it is right now. Three 0-0 draws in a week, during which we rarely threatened the opposing goal.

Carroll is lethal in the air and, albeit cliche, has good feet for a man of his stature. Signing him would be a risk, but one worth taking. We cannot afford to put all of our eggs in one basket, though, and it doesn’t look as though we’re going to.

Goal believe that two alternatives are being considered in case Chelsea miss out on Carroll.

Richarlison has taken to life in the Premier League like a wish to water. Arriving at Watford in the summer from Fluminense at 20-years-old, few could have predicted the impact has has had for the Hornets this term.

His good performances at Vicarage Road look to have attracted the attention of the champions. Richarlison can play on either flank, or centrally, his versatility could certainly be useful. With Willian and Pedro coming to the end of their prime years, it could be useful having someone ready and waiting to step into their shoes. Though, some would argue that Charly Musonda is more than capable…

Thorgan Hazard

What better way to convince Eden Hazard to sign a contract extension than to re-sign his brother? Eden’s other brother Kylian was already drafted in during the summer and added to the development side. Thorgan’s return would surely only further improve morale.

Thorgan’s loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach was made permanent in 2015. At the time, the Chelsea website reported that a buy-back clause was negotiated into the deal. If that is still active, then we ought to look to make this deal happen.

He is no longer just ‘Eden Hazard’s brother’, he has repeatedly showcased his own talent and deserves recognition for that. If we are unable to land Carroll, both Richarlison and Thorgan look to be plausible and worthwhile options.
