Andreas Christensen is the future of Chelsea’s defence.

The Dane was widely considered one of the most promising youngsters in our academy, which was, and still is, filled to the brim with exciting talent.

Christensen’s performances for Chelsea’s youth team earned him a two-year loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach, where he established himself as one of the best young centre-backs on the planet.

It was impossible for Antonio Conte to ignore Christensen in the summer, and he didn’t. The 21-year-old joined up with the Italian’s squad for this term, and it hasn’t taken him long to displace David Luiz and nail down a regular spot in the starting side.

Christensen’s form this campaign does not appear to have gone unnoticed at the Etihad. Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has revealed he heard a rumour that Pep Guardiola would love to take Christensen to Manchester City.

Pat Nevin
Pat Nevin made 193 domestic appearances for Chelsea between 1983 and 1988.

Nevin is quoted by 101greatgoals saying:

“I heard a wee whisper, and I don’t know if it’s true, but the player he would really like more than anyone else is Andreas Christensen from Chelsea.”

“That’s the one he’d really like. He’s not going to get him but he’s at that sort of age he could to the same thing as Stones.”

Hands off, Pep!

Christensen is the first Chelsea academy product since John Terry to break into the starting eleven, there is absolutely no chance that we would sacrifice that for any price.

He’s staying put, and Pep can dream on.
