Maurizio Sarri could reportedly look to reunite with former striker Gonzalo Higuain, should he take charge of Chelsea this summer.
Higuain scored 71 goals in 101 Serie A appearances during his time at Napoli. Perhaps the most impressive period of the Argentine’s illustrious career was under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri. The former Real Madrid goal-machine bagged 36 times in 35 appearances in Italy’s top tier with Sarri at the helm.
Sarri appears to now be closing in on the Chelsea managerial position, with Antonio Conte set to part ways with the Blues. There are suggestions within the Italian press that he could be keen to take Higuain with him from Italy to West London.
Football Italia report that there is a growing feeling that Chelsea could, at least try, to sign Higuain if/when Sarri arrives. The main issue is the hefty finances that would be involved for a player who will be 31 in December. Either way, the report claims that the move is gathering steam. Let’s wait and see.
