Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard aren’t indispensible to the future success that the club can achieve, as Goal reports.
Much has been made of potential Stamford Bridge exits for the Belgian duo who have earned interest from Real Madrid as well as worries they won’t sign contract extensions at Chelsea.
Hazard has been one of the stars of the modern Premier League era, being in the PFA Team of the Year four times since joining the club in 2012.
Despite, having an awful performance in the 3-0 loss to Barcelona on Wednesday, Thibaut Courtois has also shown his credentials since replacing Petr Cech as our first choice goalkeeper in 2014.
Whilst the pair have played important roles for the Blues in recent years, Gallas is quoted by Goal insisting that replacements can be found for Hazard and Courtois.
“To be honest, you have got so many great players in the world that if Hazard or Courtois has to leave, you can find a good goalkeeper to replace Courtois.
“You have good wingers who can replace Eden Hazard. That’s the job of the scouts to find the right players.”
It’s set to be a busy summer for the club and fans will know which direction we are heading in from the club’s transfer activity.
